Clicking on the (+) button adds a bus or auxiliary track next to Ultrabeat that serves as an output for sounds.

How it’s actually set up is kind of different from how you would think it would be.ġ.) The plugin must be initiated in the multi - out format, not mono or stereoĢ.) At the bottom of the channel in the mixer view in Logic Pro X, you will see two buttons with either a plus and a minus sign on each button.

Ultrabeat allows users to route sounds from inside of Ultrabeat to outside of the plugin to a bus to further process the sounds.

The main difference here being more onboard filter effects, resonance controls, and that dirt is essentially the volume knob for noise. The third Oscillator however is the noise oscillator - and while its not called that outright, thats what it is. The saturation fader does well, obviously add more saturation.

As mentioned earlier the asym fader affects how much the sample is blended in with the tone generator for that oscillator. The slope affects the attack of the signal on both Oscillators 1 and 2. Oscillator 1 allows not only for tone generation, but very rudimentary FM synthesis and side chaining. The pitch of either the tone generator (synth) or sample can then be changed to a different key or can be modified by clicking the drop down menu under “mod” in the sample/synth section.Įach oscillator does something a little different. From there, bringing up the “asym” fader next to the sample window will affect how much it is layered in with the other sounds you may have triggering on another oscillator. Loading in samples is easy and can be done in either oscillator. If you do not want a signal to send it’s signal to be mixed into the output of the sound, just make sure the arrow is turned off. The middle section is where the filters, drive, coloring fx, and signal blend in Ultrabeat. Each section of the middle section that “connects” the oscillators to each other will show a red arrow pointing to a middle. You just have to do that inside of Logic, export that sound, and then import it back into Ultrabeat.īeyond processing, the signal flow can also be controlled from this window.

Sure, you can use mods but you can’t really choose the starting point, nor where it ends. With all these options, it does however fall short in being able to edit the samples inside of it. So, in essence each track inside of Ultrabeat has three oscillators making up the left side of the plugin in red - on top of the sample layer combined with ways to completely sculpt a sound within the sampler itself. The typical tools of LFO, drive, crush, distortion, clipping, filters, EQ and band passes is also available. Not only can you load in samples or use the oscillator to generate a tone, but it includes a modeling synth, 4 changeable envelopes, layer in an FM synthesis tone, or even do side chaining. The main window is where all the juicy sound design happens.
